Top 3 Benefits of Training From Home

February 1, 2021

While many of us have been forced to train from home, a lot of us have seen the added benefits and will continue adding home workouts to their weekly routines.  At first, it was a shock.  But after nearly a year, I think the proof is in the pudding!

Being able to add a few sessions a week from your home has helped so many people’s fitness thrive, not to mention how much our furry friends love to join in!

Here are our top benefits of training from home:

Consistency:

Being able to train at any time, any day, no bookings, and no equipment gives you so much freedom!  Train before the rest of your household is awake, or during the day while the little ones are home, or while dinner is in the oven, all of these factors help you stay consistent.  It means that less workouts are missed, and you’ll be able to get in MORE workouts – even if they are short ones.  All you need is the internet, a phone/tablet/laptop, and some space!

If you can do 3-4x 20 minute workouts per week, that is an additional 60-80 minutes each week.  Even if you only did 1-2x per week, that is still 20-40 minutes of exercise you wouldn’t have usually done.  And they all add up by the end of the week, month, and year.

You are now able to fit more into a smaller time frame, at any time of day that suits you.

I’m not saying to give up your gym sessions, or your classes (when they resume and are accessible to you), no way! I am a huge fan of hitting the gym and having a variety of exercise options in your weekly routines.  However, with the additional access to home workouts, we have so much more available to us.  I currently have quite a few in-person clients who also do our home workouts in between our sessions to add to their weekly routine.  They have seen such great results by doing so, and they can also stay consistent while they are on holidays or can’t make our sessions.

Convenience:

Less time spent on driving, parking, and getting yourself ready.  You can also try to multitask while doing a home workout: throw on some laundry, pop dinner in the oven, or squeeze in a workout before the kids are up.  Fitting in a 20-minute session in your own home, versus the extra time it takes to get to a gym or outdoor session, can make all the difference.  You can wear what you want, or what you don’t want (no shoes, no shirt, no problem!), you can have bad breath and messy hair – who cares?!  Some people may not have transport options, or need assistance with getting around, so staying home is more convenient and easier for them and their carers or families.

Comfort:

Many people don’t like to be in the gym, they don’t feel comfortable using the equipment, and they don’t want to exercise around other people.    They may be self conscious, shy, or just don’t want to share equipment with too many others.  Some people don’t want to train outdoors in the elements, or in a group.  Some people may be at home with babies or kids, and they are more comfortable to train at home with their young ones (or it’s just easier).  Some people might train very early in the morning, or later in the evening and staying home is just more comfortable for them.  Some people might not have proper workout attire, and training from home means they can wear whatever they like, and don’t necessarily need proper shoes.  Some people might have other personal reasons and they just prefer to exercise from their own home.

Now is also a good time to remind everyone that you don’t need your workouts to be super intense.  Gone are the days of “no pain, no gain”. There is no need to smash yourself for every workout.

Rather, focus on a consistent weekly routine with variety, such as: walking, running, mobility, and strength.

Get yourself into a routine to move your body every day, create consistency, and see results!

I’ve been using my new motto “Consistency, not Intensity” for over 12 months now and its been a game changer for me mentally, and physically.

I truly believe that your workouts should nourish your body, not demolish it. And given the recent year everyone has had with lockdowns and restrictions, we could all do with a little less stress.

The way I have structured my Online Members Studio reflects just that. All the workouts can be done from home, no equipment, and no experience necessary. We are proud to offer a “light-to-medium” intensity exercise platform for everyone to have access to daily movement.

Your workouts should nourish your body, not demolish it.

We offer full body, core and glutes, foam rolling, mobility and recovery workouts, as well as 20, 30, or 45 minute sessions. There is literally something for everyone, and for every day. Even the days you don’t feel like training, we can help you move your body to best suit your needs.

We have also catered all the workouts to be appropriate for pre and postnatal mums, inclusive of pelvic floor work (please send us a message so we can assess your current stage of pregnancy or postnatal readiness, as each pregnancy and each body is different).
